NB- This is not a simple headphone jack issue- no red light in headphone port, cannot be fixed with q-tips, toggling headphones in port etc. This is my main concern as the high pitched noise is very annoying and off putting.Īlso if I am using the firewire cable to power my audio I/F and the iMac looses sync with it (which seems to be happening quite regularly after a period of inactivity), a low level oscillating squealing noise can be heard from the iMac (it sounds like a digital noise that sounds like a siren or alarm). ![]() This happens both when all inputs and outputs to the audio I/F are disconnected and when they are connected. When I connect the audio interface (using a FW800 to FW400 cable) a continuous high pitched noise is heard from the iMac and this disapears when the audio I/F is disconnected. I have a late 2009 iMac (11,1) running OS X 10.6.8 and a Presonus Firestudio Mobile audio interface.
